Welcome
back everyone after your holiday. I hope everyone had a good break and had a
chance to do something special and have some fun with friends or family!
We
have lots of interesting things going on this term, I’m really looking forward
to it and hope that we’ll all learn heaps and have fun as we do it!
Task
One: Reading Survey & Library Trip preparation
-Could you please complete the
reading survey you’ve been given. I would really appreciate if this can be done
with parents/caregivers and discussed together.
-Also, we are taking a trip to
the public library on Thursday morning. YOU MUST BRING YOUR LIBRARY CARD! Please
think/talk with friends and parents about what books/authors you like, search
for possible books on the library catalogue (http://codc-qldc.govt.nz/)
and be ready to look for these books when we arrive at the library on Thursday.
-If you don’t have a library card
could you please do your best to organize a trip to the library with your
parent/caregiver in order to organize a library card. I know not everybody will
be able to do this before Thurs, but it would be great if it could be done as
soon as possible as we will be trying to use the public library more in the
second half of this year.
Task
Two: Holiday Recount
We will be working on writing
stories based on an event from our holidays. You will have time to plan, draft
and edit this in class this week, but you may however need to use some homework
time to publish. Publish either on a google doc (and share with Mr Yeoman) or
on a piece of refill paper. This must be handed in on Friday.
Task
Three: Current Events
We all know the routine with this
now. Please check the board to see if you are on the roster for this week. If
you are please put in a good effort, be organized and be ready to share with
the class.
Task
Four: Maths Times Tables grid
Our cut off is still 4mins 15sec
but next week we will drop this to 4mins. If you didn’t make the cut off in
class on Monday, or if you were close and know you need to keep working on your
basic facts, please complete a grid in your homework book each night. I will
collect homework books on Fri to see your progress.
