Homework Term one Week Five



Task one: Maths

If you didn’t complete this weeks maths times table grid in the 5min limit then you must complete a maths times tables grid in your homework book each night. I will be checking these on Friday. Knowing your times tables is essential!

Task Two: Current Events

If you are on Current Events any time this week (see the timetable on the board in Rm 6) please be prepared, complete the tasks outlined in the Current Events scrapbook and return the book to school the next day ready to present to the class and lead a discussion.

Task Three: Reading

Please spend at least 20 minutes each night reading your book. Remember to also bring your book to school every day to read. Be ready to share with me and with others in class what is happening in your book.

Task Four: Spelling & Writing

-We may begin spelling this week but this depends on time.
-If you have not completed the publishing of your Holiday Recount then you must complete this, preferably on a google doc, and share with Mr Yeoman. We are moving on with other writing tasks in class so this is now to be completed in your own time.

Room 6 Class Treaty 2017


We will commit to the following ways of living in Room 6 because we want everyone to feel at home in our class and our school.

1. We will have laughter in class at the right time, we want to be relaxed in our class, we want to make people feel good.

2. We will work as a team by trusting others, cooperating with them, and being willing to help.

3. We will accept mistakes, encourage, support and learn from these mistakes. We will try again.

4. We will listen and include people so that everyone feels they belong.     

5. We will communicate clearly how we’re feeling.

6. We will be aware of and respect and celebrate people’s differences and similarities. We will encourage their positive attributes.

7. We will be willing to take risks and make a contribution.

8. We will create an environment where everyone can do their best.

9. We will respect people and their property and their space.

Important notice: Female camp volunteers needed!!

At this stage we have only one female parent helping on school camp. We will need at least one more female helper and preferable two more. Please contact Mr Yeoman as soon as possible if you are able to help with any or all of camp. Thanks.

Homework Term one Week Four


Task one: Class Treaty

Take home your copy of the class treaty and read and discuss this with your caregivers. Complete your ‘thumb print’ art if you agree to signing. We will be completing this process together on Friday.

Task Two: Current Events

Physical Activity Leaders: Workshop this Fri 24th Feb 9-11:15am for all house leaders & others who have been selected.

River monitoring: Small group will go on tour next Wed 1st March.

Homework Term one Week Three

Task One: Leadership speeches

As we discussed in class this week those who wish to stand for leadership positions will be giving speeches. Your speeches must be ready to present on Wednesday.
-1:30pm those going for house leadership will give speeches to their house groups.
-2:00pm those going for Cultural and Special Character leadership will give speeches to Rm 5 & 6.

Task Two: Current Events

We will begin our Current Events roster this week. Please see the inside cover of the scrapbook to confirm your task and ask if you have any questions. Be ready to present to the class. This week’s Current Events will be done by those not working on leadership speeches.

Task Three: Completion of art work

We have been working on Alexandra portrait photo art, Catherine McAuley art, and your personal bunting. These all need to be completed by the end of the week so if you’re getting behind you need to work on them at home.

Important dates:

·      Monday 13th Feb – First Kapa Haka practice 11am
·      Monday 13th Feb – Girls Smash Cricket begins 3:30pm @ Molyneux park.
·      Tues 14th Feb – Envirogroup lunch meeting in the garden.
·      Tues 14th Feb – Swimming 1:30pm. Walk from school 1:00pm. Early lunch.
·      Wed 15th Feb – School mass 9am, all most welcome to join us.
·      Wed 15th Feb – Leadership speeches as outlined above.
·      Wed 15th Feb – 11:40am-12:40pm River monitoring, small group at the Manuherikia river track beach. Bring PE gear and running shoes/gumboots.
·      Thurs 16th Feb – Swimming 2pm, leave school on bus 1:45pm.
·      Fri 17th Feb – Technology @ The Terrace.
