A reminder

We meet at school as normal and will leave around 9am

What to bring

Students need to wear old clothes and sports shoes/hiking boots that they will not be concerned about getting wet or dirty (no open toed shoes or sandals please).  They should also bring a change of clothes.

Please bring a packed lunch with more snacks than usual and a large water bottle to keep their energy and hydration up throughout the day.  Please also make sure they have a wide brimmed hat and sunscreen.

Homework Term 4 Week 8

As I was away all of last week this week’s homework will be very similar to last. Your main focus is to have your Eisteddfod speech ready for Thursday afternoon. Make the most of the week!

Task One: Eisteddfod speeches

We have discussed the requirements and the marking criteria. You will have some time in class for writing your speeches but these will need to be worked on and practiced at home. Our class Eisteddfod speeches will take place this Thurs Dec 1^st and possibly Monday Dec 5^th. The school Eisteddfod assembly will take place on Thurs Dec 8^th

Task Two: Reading Novels

-Everyone is expected to be reading for at least 20mins each night and have their novels at school every day.

-On Thurs you will all be expected to share one ‘literature circles’ activity of your choice, based on your chosen novel, to a small group.

-Mr Yeoman will be meeting with every student through the week to discuss your novel and your progress with reading.

Task Three: Spelling

Normal spelling & word tasks again this week. Please complete to a high standard

Task Four: Cookbook recipe

The recipe book fundraiser committee would like every family in the school to submit a favorite family recipe. You need to discuss with your family, find a favorite recipe of any kind, then bring a copy of it to school. You can either bring it on an A4 sheet with your name on it, or you could type it up and share it to me as a google doc

Eisteddfod Speech Assessment

Writing:

• Write a speech sequencing ideas logically.

Do this using the Hamburger format by:

• Having an appetising introduction – an exciting question or ‘did you know’, and tell briefly about the other things that will be in the speech.
• Layers: each layer will be about a different part of the speech topic, each layer will flow to the next layer, because it makes sense to speak about it next.
• Conclusion: will remind the audience about what the speech has been about, or leave the audience with a thought provoking question.
