Welcome back from your holidays. I hope
everyone’s had a fantastic break! I’m looking forward to Term Two and hope you
are also. We have ANZAC day this Saturday so this week your homework is based
around that.
Task One:
Spelling
You should each have your list of words for
this week. In class we have done your ‘tooling’. If you need to repeat this at
home to be confident with your words for this week then please do. Test your
words every night and be ready for a spelling test next Monday seeing as we
have Tech this Friday.
Main Task:
ANZAC project
This week in your homework book please
complete the following small tasks as we prepare for ANZAC day on Saturday.
1.
Soldier
Diary. Imagine you are going to war, write three diary entries. Think carefully
and do some research to make this as genuine as possible.
o
First- Pre
war as you depart from New Zealand.
o
Second –
During the war, this could be Gallipoli, the Somme, Egypt or somewhere else
that you research that Kiwis were involved.
o
Third – As
you return to New Zealand.
2.
Imagine your
best friend or brother has gone to war and you are still in New Zealand. Using
your imagination write them a short letter from home, think carefully about
what someone in this position at this time might be writing.
3.
Imagine you
are organizing a community fundraiser for the soldiers. Design a simple poster
advertising your event, remember this is the 1910’s, make it look genuine.
4.
Write
briefly about what ANZAC day means to you now.
